Has anyone had success pursuing credit for the BPDO EPD Option 2 (Multi Attribute Optimization)? The companies I have had success finding documentation for are as follows:
Owens Corning (Thermafiber), Interface (GlasBacRE), mulitple Sherwin Williams products (LCA Action Plans), and Milliken (WellBAC).
Does anyone have any great resources or tips for tracking these down? I need more companies/products that have this documentation.

I have not seen any, but is anyone aware of a minimum square footage of paint that needs to be installed to be counted toward the criteria? I have a project considering accent walls using a few gallons of multiple products to get over the 10 product threshold. Thank you for your time.

Hi Alan. That's right - the v4.1 Reference Guide/Addenda don't set a minimum quantity of a product. As long as it's permanently installed and within the relevant CSI divisions, you'll be able to count it.

We've updated it - we made a downloadable e-book with the latest and greatest that is available here.

How does one establish a baseline to compare a product to? Can you use the EC3 tool, or does it require a building life cycle tool like Tally or OneClick?

Assa Abloy has a "Sustainability Report" that I think shows 25% decrease in GWP. "I think" because I'm not absolutely sure I'm interpreting the report correctly.
Would love getting some instructions on reading and interpreting these documents. Recommendations anyone?

BTW
https://buildingtransparency.org/ec3/epds
is a good resource to find certificates that have lapsed (but would have been good for your project's construction schedule).
Note also not all Sherwin Williams products have the LCA Optimization Report. The search engines may point you to one but it might instead be the Material Ingredients Optimization Plan. (ask me how I know...)

UPDATE to my question about the Assa Abloy sustainability program report - this is the response from the LEED Reviewer:
"The Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) documentation provided for ASSA ABLOY hollow metal frames does not meet the requirements stated in the LEED v4.1 BD+C Beta Guide. For Manufacturer Based EPR Programs, the following must be provided: a narrative from the manufacturer describing the nature of the program, where the materials can be collected, and where the materials go upon collection. The narrative must indicate whether the program is a state recognized/industry-wide or an independent program."
So while Assa Abloy is a USGBC Platinum Member their Sustainability Report is not up to snuff LEEDwise.

As if this credit weren't complicated or difficult enough, we received a Review comment stating that several of the above listed Embodied Carbon/LCA Action Plans (including Sherwin Williams, Glynn-Johnson and Von Duprin) do not include all of the required information. Anyone else receiving similar comments? They provided a link to a sample of a compliant Embodied Carbon/LCA Action Plan, found in the Resources section for this credit: https://www.usgbc.org/resources/sample-life-cycle-impact-reduction-actio...

Following up with a resource that is sure to be helpful to folks following this thread. USGBC v4.1 Product Compliance Checklists and Tips document. https://www.usgbc.org/resources/leed-v41-product-compliance-checklists-t... on page 10 they have a handy chart that shows which requirements are applicable for each document type. Check your documents carefully to make sure all of the items listed here are shown on your action plan/reduction documentation before you consider them compliant.

Hi Summer - Thanks so much for sharing this with the group, I was just about to submit the Glynn-Johnson and Von Duprin plans on a project with no wiggle room. Can you share the details of the comment? Were you able to respond and have the documentation approved or did you just drop those products? Our team has determined that this might be an effect of the credit changes between the July 2020 addenda and the dreaded November 2020 addenda, as the referenced plans were drafted in Sept 2020. I suspect they just don't comply under the current/post-"Novdenda" v4.1 credit requirements, which is pretty disappointing!

Michelle - I want to be very careful here to make this comment specific to my project. The outcome of our review doesn't necessarily mean that these documents will be flagged or rejected on future project reviews.
Based on GBCI comments for our project, we were not able to resubmit Option 2. The documents that we submitted (current as of this post) that were questioned by GBCI were confirmed by our team to not have all of the the required information as described within the Product Compliance Checklist so unfortunately we didn't have much to go on by way of response. These were Sherwin Williams ProMar 200, Sherwin Williams Loxon, Sherwin Williams ProMar 400, Von Duprin 98/99 Series Exit Device, and Glynn-Johnson Overhead Door Stop Holder - 100 Series. Again the comment that we received reflects a single review from a moment in time, certianly future Action Plans for these products may be compliant.
The take away here for my team will be to double check all of our Option 2 documents against the LEED v4.1 published product guidance before we consider them compliant.

@Summer Minchew I appreciate you posting the issues regarding Allegion's EPD optimization reports. We have been working with our consultants since it was brought to our attention. We have published revised reports for 6 products that have all of the items from the USGBC checklist now included. The previous documents were created when optimization reports were in a beta phase and the requirements have since changed.
The documents are available here: https://us.allegion.com/sustainability Please go to the LEED tile and then EPDs.

Since this post continues to get a lot of questions, I thought I would share a good resource that seems to be keeping up with the latest documentation available (or so it seems!).
1) If you go to this site, https://transparencycatalog.com/search
2) Then make sure the keyword is BLANK
3) Go to the "Disclosure Type" and select "EPD", then check "Optimized" and you should get MOST of the latest and greatest certificates that comply with v4.1 EPD Option 2.
4) There is green column that should display all the materials with EPD+Opt and inlcude a live link to take to you to the current document.
Hope this helps someone!
