Hi all,
I have a doubt related with the Minimum Energy Performance Calculator for v4.
In "Performance_Outputs_1" tab, particularly in "Performance Rating Method Compliance report" table, what does the entry "Demand (KW)" stands for?
Is it the peak value reported by the simulation software for a simulation year? (i.e. the maximum value for a particular hour). Or is it the total installed power regarding a specific end use?
For instance, it is possible to have 10KW lighting power installed, however the maximum annual value (peak) may only be 9kW. Which one of these corresponds to the “Demand (KW)” entry?
I hope I have been clear enough. Thank you in advance.

It is the peak annual kW for the energy end use reported by the software.
In your example if you have 10 kW of installed lighting power and it is all turned on together, you would have 10 kW of demand. It might be lower than 10 kW depending on the nature of the lighting schedule in the space and certain lighting controls applied to the system.

Hi,
We also have problem in generating the total energy cost. Under this "performance output" tab, do we need to fill-up the following:
1) Utility Rate Name and Utility Structure (where can we find it?)
2) Cost (under Performance Rating energy consumption & cost by fuel type), this was not included on T-24 report, so where can i get it?). I believed once we input values here, the total energy usage will reflect. Whose in-charge for all this info?
3) Unmet loads (where can i get it and whose in-charge for this) ?
4) Also, I did not fill-up the following TAB: Schedules, Process load (n/a), Service Water Heating (no baseline input on service hot water flow), Water side hvac (n/a). Are they required to get the "Total Energy Cost"? without this values, we cannot determine the % in the form, right?
Please help me how to resolve this. How come there's no information on where or how can we get those values.
Appreciate any assistance on this .
Regards,
Susan

1. The building will be served by some entity that will be providing electricity and maybe other utilities. What utility will provide electricity, etc. to the building? What rate structure will that utility use to determine the billing for the electricity, etc.? You can find utility rate tariffs online as they are typically published information.
2. Whoever generated the T-24 report should be including the energy rates within the energy model. They have the option to use a flat rate from US DOE, a flat rate based on the energy use of similar facilities, or by entering a utility tariff.
3. The energy modeling software generates this information. Your energy modeler should be able to provide this from a report generated by the modeling software.
4. Completing the various tabs in the spreadsheet will not impact the energy cost values.
It sounds like you were given a T-24 report and asked to complete the forms for LEED. Typically your energy modeler should do this as they should easily know the answer to all of your questions. There are differences between what you need to do for T-24 and what you need to do for LEED. All of this information should be contained in the full T-24 report that gets generated when doing the modified modeling needed for LEED projects.
