In a CS project that is a renovation with existing mechanical equipment - does the existing mechanical equipment need to have the MERV 13 filtration? The reference guide does not speak to this.

Unfortunately, LEED doesn't care in this case if you are reusing existing equipment. The credit requires MERV 13 no mater what.
