The LEED text only discusses what must be done in the first year. Is there any specific term that the MBCx must be done? In other Cx schemes they require two years, life of building, etc. The reason is that the energy analysis company needs to specify a length of contract.

I do not know of any guidance. Clearly defining the scope over a year seems reasonable to me. In a way, monitoring based Cx is a good setup for seeking EBOM in the future of a new building, which is the desired path if you want to show not just the design and construction was sustainable but to also show it is being operated sustainably. Also, while I know that many use third parties for this monitoring, a well-designed plan that has well-designed trend logs, alarms, and notifications could be continued by the owner maintenance staff.
