LEED for Schools O&M v4 project. This small rural school borders Yellowstone National Park. Existing single building serving k-12. School already has greenhouse attached that is used for programmatic opportunities. If expanded to include outside garden area, that space would become a wildlife attractant and have to be strongly fenced to at least 10-feet height to keep out elk and bison herds. Garden area would also only be accessible after snow melt (late June to early September) at which time school is closed. In greenhouse, less than 25% (as required) will be herbs for cafeteria use. Question--does this pilot credit require certain production level of vegetables/fruits or just an attempt to grow most and best possible?
