Hi! I have a question regarding the ventilation requirement for the Linen Area, according to the Space Matrix file, there needs to be Outdoor air for this space. My question is, is the Linen Area defined as the place where they have all the concentration of Clean Linen, or does it also include the small "closets" where the clean linen is kept throughout the hospital in different areas?
thank you!

Gabriela—The LEED IEQ Space Matrix identifies occupied space types that must meet the ASHRAE-62.1 ventilation requirements of IEQp1 under LEED BD+C and ID+C. However, ASHRAE-62.1 does not address health care space types.
In LEED for Healthcare, IEQp1 requires health care spaces to comply with portions of the 2010 FGI Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities, and the ventilation requirements of ASHRAE-170-2008, Ventilation of Health Care Facilities. Therefore, the Matrix's distinction between occupied and nonoccupied spaces is less relevant.
For “Clean Linen Storage” rooms, Table 7.1 of ASHRAE-170 requires positive pressurization and a minimum of 2 air changes per hour, but it does not actually require them to receive outdoor air. The intent is to maintain an outward airflow that prevents germs and contaminants from entering or settling within areas where clean, unwrapped linen may be stored or handled.
This requirement applies to rooms (with walls and doors); however, cabinets or casework that hold linens in sealed packages or for immediate use do not require ventilation.
