Hi all!
I am working on a project in which we are selecting wood ceilings. The ceilings we are interested in have emisisons documenation for CARB, showing compliance for the compostite wood category.
However, we are trying to meet LEM complaince for ceilings for this project. Would these wood ceilings be counted in the ceilings or composite wood cateogry when doing LEM calculations? Thank you!

They will be counted in the Ceilings category. See below for additional information:
Composite Wood
At least 75% of all composite wood, by cost or surface area, meets the Formaldehyde emissions evaluation OR salvaged and reused materials criteria.
The composite wood product category includes all particleboard, medium density fiberboard (both medium density and thin), hardwood plywood with veneer, composite or combination core, and wood structural panels or structural wood products.
Exclude products covered in the flooring, ceiling, wall panels, or furniture material categories from this category.

I suggest looking at the location within the specification for guidance on appropriate compliance path. Division 09 Ceilings include wood components that are comprised of pre-manufactured components and fit into a pre-engineered suspension system, and would be catagorized as CEILINGS. Division 06 Ceilings include wood components that are either shop or site fabricated and are assembled on site using carpentry tools, and would be categorized as COMPOSITE WOOD.
Trusting that line of thinking moves towards a solution for the compliance ratings - if it is out-to-lunch - let me know :-)

If it composite wood being manufactured into a ceiling onsite, then I would say you could use the composite wood category. However, if it is a premanufactured ceiling product, then I believe it should be in the ceilings category.
"The ceilings product category includes all ceiling panels, ceiling tile, surface ceiling structures such as gypsum or plaster, suspended systems (including canopies and clouds), and glazed skylights."
"The composite wood product category includes all particleboard, medium density fiberboard (both medium density and thin), hardwood plywood with veneer, composite or combination core, and wood structural panels or structural wood products. Exclude products covered in the flooring, ceiling, wall panels, or furniture material categories from this category."
