LEED online Substitution v4.1 for v4 MRC1: Submit 4 Points for Option 4 Path 4?

Dear all,

as our project meets the requirements of Path 4, we like to submit 4 Points in LEED online. For Option 4 under LEED v4 only 3 Points are available at the thresholds. Is it possible to earn 4 Points for Path 4 in LEED v4 by substituting the credit and if yes, how should we submit it in LEED online?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Hi There,
I'm not sure how to submit on LEED online, but I am curious about how you established your baseline building to show that you met 4 points on path 4.  Would you mind sharing what your method was in doing this?

Thanks,
Kelsey

Kelsey, check out this guidance from the Athena Sustainable Materials Institute: https://calculatelca.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Athena_Guide_to_Whole-Building_LCA_in_Green_Building_Programs_March-2014.pdf

Hi Kelsey, of course I can share or method. In the relevant project, the bottom plate and the outer walls of the previous building have not been demolished, but will be integrated into the new building. While these structures are therefore not included in the LCA for the proposed building, they are assumed to be newly built in the LCA of the baseline building. As a result, further environmental impacts can be saved and the reductions between the proposed and the baseline building meet the requirements. I think this procedure can also be applied to other projects that reuse parts of the building and complies with LEED requirements, but I cannot say this with certainty. I hope I could help you. Does anyone have a suggestion for LEED online?

Hey J Schuetz, This credit has not been finalized for my project yet, but I stated in the LEED form that my project is pursuing version 4.1, option 4 (or whatever option you are going for).  I believe this will suffice, but not 100% sure yet. Can anyone shine light on this way of designating a credit when pursuing version 4.1?

Hey Kyle Roth, thanks for your reply. Actually, I did exactly what you suggest and additionaly stated it in the narrative and it has been accepted by the review team. However, the 4 instead of 3 points will not be displayed in the overview until the final review phase. This worked also for other credits, where we pursued version 4.1.
