Hello. I am working in a LEED project and I coordinate the LEED process from the contractor side ,also the project has a external LEED consultant but I am not very sure of their role. I would like some advice for what a external LEED consultant role is.I always thought that in credits like recycle content we will provide them the information and they will track if we are achieving the target or if we need to change the strategy but I get told all the time that is not their scope .I would like to know exactly what is a External LEED consultant scope.Only filling the credit calculators and upload it online? Thank you

Hi Irene,
This really depends on your contract and maybe on the common practices of the country where the project is. This being said, LEED Online lets anyone work on it after creating an account. Also, the main contractor is ultimately responsible for separating waste streams and getting the recycling haulers data from them.

Thank you Dionisio, The project is in Canada , We have s system in place to take care of the waste and taking the date from them but I though the LEED consultant will do the tracking all the data and creating at excel file for it. What is the general norm for the tracking/reports? Does the LEED only collect the data and upload it or he/she prepares the tracking sheets also.
Thank you.

Irene - Who does the outside LEED consultant work for? My experience is that the GC (or sometimes they hire a separate consultant) is responsible for documenting most of the construction related credits (including the BPDO and Low-emitting credits).
Frequently there is a LEED consultant that manages the LEED certification process. They may do some LEED documentation (i.e. LT credits), but they also manage the LEED project and ensure the project achieves its certification goal. They typically have check-in meetings with the GC during construction to ensure the GC is tracking their credits.
