LEED certification for open spaces

We would like our expansion project to be LEED certified.

There will be no physical separation between the existing building and the extension (no walls).

In fact, the space will be open over the entire length of the expansion (very elongated shape – several hundred meters)

Does this condition allow us to submit our project for LEED certification?

Our concern is particularly in relation to Energy and atmosphere credits (EA Prerequisite: Minimum Energy Performance)

Should the junction between the existing building and the extension be closed?

Thank you for your feedback.
