Does anyone know whether LED monitors for advertisement are considered as exterior lighting? Does it need to comply with the 2.2W/m2 Exterior LPD requirement as stipulated in ASHRAE 90.1?
We have a project that is designed to have a podium LED facade solely for advertisement, either stationary images or animation. Can it be excluded from the ASHRAE LPD requirement? Do I need to model the energy use of the LED podium box in our models?

Advertising signage is an exception (see Section 9.4.5 Exception b).
It is excluded from the exterior LPD requirements. It must be included in both models identically. The energy models must always include all the energy associated with the project.
