Similar to the other "Interior Lighting for 24 operation" questions, I am working on a smaller (8,700 sf) fire station that is operational 24/7. There are manual interior (residential-like) blinds on the "living quarter" side of the fire station that were purchased directly by the Owner. Initially the Fire Dept. did not plan on purchasing blinds until we discussed the credit requirements for SSc8. They proceeded with purchasing and installing them, however was not able to get any information from the blind manufacturer detailing how much (what percentage) the initial fixture lumens will be transmitted through the glazing.
How can I achieve credit compliance for SSc8 - or how can I document there that all openings in the envelope (translucent or transparent with a direct line of sight to any nonemergency luminaires have shielding (controlled/closed by "automatic device") for a resultant transmittance of less than 10% between 11 pm and 5 am? Espeically being that the blinds have to be "manually" controlled by the fire fighters?
I believe this same concept would be applicable to other 24/7 operations such as hospital tower rooms, etc., which in those cases the blinds are controlled by the patience and/or hospital staff.
