We are pursuing in this credit the "Option 2: Providing onsite alternative fueling stations for 3% of total vehicle parking capacity is a bit more involved and potentially more expensive. The most readily accessible strategy here is providing plug outlets for electric cars"
The propierty is asking if we can achieve the credit with the installation of the electric chargers but in a progressive way. I mean, when we deliver all the documentation of the certification only the 50% of the electric charguers will be installed because the ocupation will incorpore the building in a stepped way. So they will be install the 100% once the full ocupation is on the building. The electric supply will be installed in all the correspondient parking places
Can we achieve the credit with the evidences of the first electric chargers installed and a letter with the commitment of the owner that will be install the rest during the ocupation phase?
Thank you in advance

No, all chargers need to be installed, however I recommend considering a couple of other options.
1. Look at the credit form. The form incentivizes installing chargers with higher charging rates (i.e. DC Fast Chargers), you don't need a straight 3% if you pursue this option.
2. You can do a combined approach of option 1 and option 2. See LEED Interpretation 10410 for more information https://www.usgbc.org/content/10410 . The calculation for this option does not incentivize installing chargers with higher charging rates, however it might be a feasible option for your project.

Is this interpretation (https://www.usgbc.org/content/10410) valid only for v2009?
If yes what about v4?

Yes, that LEED interpretation is only valid for v2009. For v4, you must provide preferred parking PLUS meet either option 1 or option 2 alternative fueling facilities requirements (some rating systems have other requirements). Visit the v4 forum for discussion of the requirements.

Hi allison,
Let me ask you another question i am covering the SSc4.3 form trying to comply with the option 1 that you suggested.
So if i have a fast electric charguer that can chargue 3 cars in 8 hours that will acount as 3 "slow charguers" in order to achieve the 3 %?
Thanks you in advance

Angel -
Yes, play with the credit form to make sure you're meeting the required thresholds. This only applies to v3 projects and NOT to the combined approach (LEED Interpretation 10410) which has a different calculation.
Good luck!
