Dear All,
we’re currently working on a LEED certification of a new building located in a site including outdoor landscaped areas. The building itself also has indoor planters and landscaped areas endowed with irrigation systems.
In what relates with Outdoor Water Use Reduction pre-requisite and credit, the scope appears to be only related with outdoor landscaped areas. However, we would like to clarify if indoor landscaped areas also need to be included in calculations. If the answer is affirmative, is there any guideline on how to do it?
Thanks in advance,
Gustavo De las Heras Izquierdo

Hi Ricardo,
I enquired the same issue to the GBCI for an EBOM v3 and the answer was that only planters that replicate the natural hydrology count towards this credit.
If the planters allow for rainwater to infiltrate and eventualy seep into the ground, they can be included in the calculations. However, typical indoor planters would not qualify.
I hope this helps,
