CS-v4 MRc1:Building life-cycle impact reduction

incorporating EPD data to WBLCA - North America

For the Whole Building LCA option (option 4 for v4; option 2 for v4.1)...Can anyone provide words of wisdom regarding when/how GBCI accepts the incorporation of EPD data to the WBLCA model to show reductions against the baseline, for North American projects?

E.g., the baseline building model uses generic data for a given material type (e.g., generic mineral wool) from the LCA software (e.g., Athena IE or Tally), and the proposed building model incorporates data from an EPD for a specific product being used in the project (e.g., a specific manufacturer's mineral wool). This would be for A1-A3 only, and the rest would be modeled identically.

There is some discussion at the bottom of the credit language ("Further Explanation - Incorporation of EPD data in WBLCA Tools...). But, a) it's unclear to me if this applies specifically to Europe or more generally; and b) there is not discussion about documentation. Especially if I am using an Athena or Tally model and I need to work outside of that model to incorporate the EPD data...what documentation would that take?

Thank you.
