NC-v4.1 MRc2:Environmental Product Declarations

Imported material with EPD

Hello,

We have received the following review comment:

The "XYZ" type A EPD indicates that the global region is Chile, yet the project is located in Peru. In addition, the manufacturer location has not been reported. For future projects, ensure that the provided EPD includes the global region or manufacturer location, and is appropriate for the project location and the product being used on this LEED project.

May I assume that imported materials do not count towards this credit?

In some countries, there are only a few EPDs available and it is challenging to achieve this credit. Does anyone have experience using an "Internationl EPD" as the "global region"? Thus, we would be able to import this product and comply with the review comment.

Was this related to EPD credit or the item was used in the LCA? The EPD requirements is from cradle to gate:
  • Life-cycle assessments vary in how much of the product’s life cycle they cover. For LEED, the scope has to be at least “cradle-to-gate,” meaning that it has to include the extraction of raw materials and cover all the steps up to the product’s final manufacture. “Gate” in this case refers to the gate of the factory, meaning the product is ready to be distributed.
