NC-v4 EQc1:Enhanced indoor air quality strategies

IAQ Strategies - Dedicated Janitorial Exhaust

Hello,

We currently are combining the janitorail dedicated exhaust with the bathrooms so they are on the same dedicated exhaust system.  Do we need to split the janitorial off and give it it's own specific dedicated exhaust to meet the credit? Or can we keep it with the bathrooms as a dedicated exhaust system together?

Thank you for your assistance.

Aaron - As long as the ventilation rate for the janitorial closets is high enough to mainatain negative pressure at all times, and the bathroom also has a sufficient ventilation rate to prevent cross-contamination, you wouldn't need dedicated exhaust for just the closet. Some projects might choose to provide dedicated exhaust for the janitorial closets so only that exhaust fan runs 24/7, rather than a larger fan or air handler that serves more spaces running all night.

Thank you, David. Makes sense!
