CS-v4 EAp2:Minimum energy performance

HVAC limited scope of works

Hi everyone,

We are currently working on a Core & Shell project and in terms of HVAC equipment it will comprise VRF units with indoor FCUs. However, the MEP scope of design at this stage includes only the outdoor VRF units; hence no information for the FCUs will be provided. The FCUs and all the remaining HVAC equipment shall be designed at a tenant level at a later stage.

Would you please advise on what approach we should be using for the energy model? We will incorporate the data provided for the outdoor VRF units, but what should we do in terms of the indoor units? Would it be acceptable to run the autosize on IES VE and keep the capacities determined by the software?

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Nikos

Yes, you should autosize the FCUs and use the design data for the OUs. The fan power for the FCUs should be calculated using one of the following options:
  1. Baseline fan power allowance for constant volume fans
  2. Worst-case fan power values (W/cfm) from the manufacturer of the OUs
  3. Worst-case fan power used in the projects in the past five years
  4. Binding TSLA that specifies a maximum fan power allowance
