We are certifying a project located in a city in Colombia with a tropical climate with average temperatures above 23°C all year round. The project takes advantage of this temperature and only uses natural ventilation through openings and vents. According to the standard, the baseline should be modeled with the same geometry of the project and with an HVAC system that supplies the cooling needs in the moments that it is out of the comfort range. Our problem is that HVAC never stops working because the conditioned spaces are open. Our question is: to be able to size the HVAC system we should change these holes and vents for walls? for windows? or should we follow some other procedure to do the baseline modeling?
Thank you in advance.
