High Pressure Laminate Category in Low-Emitting Materials

Plastic Laminate is a product that seems to be ignored by LEED, but basically, it is not included in low-emitting materials (LEM) composite wood, and it is not included as FSC certified wood. If it is part of an assembly, such as a plastic laminate door, it will be tracked for LEM Walls category which will require it be tested for CDPH as a door assembly (GreenGuard Gold would be an option). It is considered a plastic even though it has wood within the composite. It can be included in Sourcing of Raw Materials for contribution if it contains recycled content. For best practices and IAQ, it is best to specify GreenGuard Gold plastic laminate, but it doesn't directly contribute to LEM as a singular product.

We order FSC certified Plastic Laminate all the time- comes in as FSC-Mix Credit. We will not certify any product with laminate components (cabinets) as FSC - Certified if the laminate is not FSC-Certified.     ** is this NOT necessary? **
