Has anyone had any experience in submitting handwatering by the landscape maintenance crew for establishment, instead of temporary above ground irrigaiton? Our project is located in the Mojave Desert (high desert). We are investigating xeriscaping options, primarily small native plant groupings, but our client does not want to install any sort of irrigation system, including temporary irrigation. Any thoughts or suggestions?

This was no problem to have GBCI approved for projects in India and in Idaho. Appropriate strategy. Remember it is "HAND watering." The facility maintenance teams need to be vigilant by not laying down the hoses and going off to other duties. Obviously that wastes water and often causes floods and erosion.

We made it - only hose bibs at the building basement without any permanent or temporary irrigation systems.
We made a description of how irrigation would be made:
1. How often and at which circumstances.
2. How it would be performed (hoses, hand watering with pails, etc.).
3. Grounding of watering efficiency in such cases.
4. Calculation of water spent.
