Handicap Access

Our building has a separate main entrance and handicap access (which includes an elevator to travel between street level and lobby vertically). As we are planning to place entryway mat (6'Wx10'L) to both main entrance and the handicap access (not directly at elevator front as door swinging out is very close to the floor), we are also afraid that the one at the handicap access may cause inconvenience to some of our visitors. Is it a must to place an entryway mat there as well?

Regularly used entries need mats or grilles installed. Is there a design solution to minimize the inconvenience? If you think a mat would be too hard to roll a wheelchair over, would you be able to retrofit a grille in the floor?

Retrofitting a grille is less likely to take place in the near future, unfortunately. I shall keep that as a side note for future development. Probably I may try looking if any mat comes in with a bevel edge (or other wheelchair friendly solution) Thanks!
