EBOM-2009 EAc2.3:Existing Building Commissioning—Ongoing Commissioning

On-going Commissioning

We have already been awarded EAc2.1 and EAc2.2. To get these points we did a retro commissioning report. When we resubmit, we are considering going for EAc2.3. Since we have already done a full retro commissioning report, is it safe to say that we have done over 50% (but really 100%) for the first commissioning cycle? Meaning that we would only have to come up with a plan and schedule for the future commissioning cycles?

When you say "resubmit", are you thinking of your next cycle? So you have been certified under EBOM, and you are thinking ahead to your next submission, like in 2 or 3 years? If that is so, then I think you will need to implement some of the ongoing commissioning, which would be trend analysis and other items, not a full retro-commissioning effort at all, but some plan to make sure that the systems are staying in good form.

My apologies for the confusion. The building has not yet been awarded LEED Certification. We submitted earlier this spring and USGBC came back with comments on a few points that they wanted clarification on. We realized that it was possible to go for LEED Silver so we wanted to find some more points we could go for. We are still in the first cycle.

Ok, I was a little confused, which happens much more the older I get! Then I think you have a good case, but would recommend a conference call with the reviewers. Request a call, tell them what you would like to talk about, then state your case. They will not say YES or NO at that call, but will give you valuable advice and counsel related to your idea.
