Under v3, only systems furniture and desk/occasional seating were included. Under v4/4.1, is ALL (non-permantly installed) furniture now included? What counts as a piece of furniture?

From the LEED glossary:
"furniture and furnishings
the stand-alone furniture items purchased for the project, including individual and group seating; open-plan and private-office workstations; desks and tables; storage units, credenzas, bookshelves, filing cabinets, and other case goods; wall-mounted visual-display products (e.g., marker boards and tack boards, excluding electronic displays); and miscellaneous items, such as easels, mobile carts, freestanding screens, installed fabrics, and movable partitions. Hospitality furniture is included as applicable to the project. Office accessories, such as desktop blotters, trays, tape dispensers, waste baskets, and all electrical items, such as lighting and small appliances, are excluded."

In understanding what furniture to include for MR and IEQ credits, I was wondering about a project where the interior and FF&E are seperate contracts. Would furniture be included in the LEED boundary, even though it was contracted seperately from the main (Interior Renovation) project? Is this at our discretion?
Thanks!

I have had projects go both directions with FF&E inclusion/exclusion. For us, it was about timing and clarity. Sometimes, the FF&E was a separate everything and occurred significantly after the rest of the work, so that was a logical exclusion; we just weren't eligible for the furniture category and therefore didn't try to track it.
Do be careful between this credit and the MR credits and make sure you don't try to claim aspects for those credits; then they will definitely crosscheck with this credit to make sure it was tracked appropriately.
