Under v3, only systems furniture and desk/occasional seating were included. Under v4/4.1, is ALL (non-permantly installed) furniture now included? What counts as a piece of furniture?

Here's what the Credit language says: "At least 75% of all furniture in the project scope of work, by cost, meets the furniture emissions evaluation, OR inherently nonemitting sources criteria, OR salvaged and reused materials criteria.
The furniture product category includes all seating, desks and tables, filing/storage, free-standing cabinetry, workspaces, and furnishing items purchased for the project.
Exclude office accessories from the credit."

I often refer to the USGBC defintion of furniture (from the glossary) to help define this as it goes into a little more detail.
Furniture and Furnishings:
The stand-alone furniture items purchased for the project, including individual and group seating; open-plan and private-office workstations; desks and tables; storage units, credenzas, bookshelves, filing cabinets, and other case goods; wall-mounted visual-display products (e.g., marker boards and tack boards, excluding electronic displays); and miscellaneous items, such as easels, mobile carts, freestanding screens, installed fabrics, and movable partitions. Hospitality furniture is included as applicable to the project. Office accessories, such as desktop blotters, trays, tape dispensers, waste baskets, and all electrical items, such as lighting and small appliances, are excluded.

Thanks for the feedback! Has anyone tried this on a healthcare project?

Agree with this definition and it's pretty clear. I just had a TAG indicated that demountable wall products, floor to ceiling, is also considered furniture as it's assembled on site. Anyone else ever come across this issue?

Demountable partitions are listed in the v4 Ref Guide under the Walls category...weird that they would say furniture. I do remember having to look it up several times to be sure on a CI project we did (our own office).
The Ref Guide lists the following under Furniture and Furnishings:
"Movable partitions include office furniture system cubicle panels that are typically integrated with work surfaces, desks, and storage furniture."
Maybe they're confusing the two? I'd quote the guide if need be.
While I'm here, do y'all know if furniture must be included in this credit? It wasn't even a category for v3 NC projects. I'm afraid we're operating out of habit...

Furniture is ONE of the eight product categories in v4.1. You only need to have five compliant product categories to get the full 3 points + 1 exemplary.

Curious if anyone has experience with student accommodation projects? We have metal bedframes, which are inherently non-emitting, but finding mattresses that satisfy the low emissions requirements is exceedingly difficult. Would you expect the mattresses to be considered as a bedroom accessory, and exclude them? Or has anyone come accross mattresses that meet the requirements of the credit?
