NC-v4 WEp2:Indoor water use reduction

FTE for Assisted Living Facility

I am working on a 99 room/6 story assisted living facility in Newport Beach, CA.  The LEED-BD&C v4.0 Reference Guide provided fairly straightforward instructions for determining the "Residential" occupancy of the project.  However, there isn't a clear method for determining the "FTE/Staff" occupancy on the project.  The "Appendix 2. Default occupancy counts _ US", does list suggested levels for Hotel/Motel occupancies, but when I use that guidance, the number of FTE's seems high (around 1:1.)  Is there any guidance on how to figure FTE's for an assisted living facility?

Hi Kyle,  For my new construction projects, I always get the occupancy and visitor values directly from the client. The default values in the Appendix are really for Core & Shell projects. If for some reason that's not an option, then maybe you can use the guidance on pg 16-18 of the "Getting Started" section of the Reference Guide to determine a more realistic value? Also, I'm in Irvine. Howdy, neighbor.

Thanks for the info.  I did use the "Getting Started" info to come up with the residential occupancy, but there are no occupancies that are close to Assisted Living.  Good to know about Appendix 2.  We've used it as a guide several times in the past, but will keep your info in mind going forward.  I wish I was in the neighborhood.  I'm based in grey Nebraska.  We'd love a little more sun, & warmth right now.

I'll bet the operations or admin people use a standard staff to resident ratio, which I'd also bet might differ slightly based on the local law and the price point/market the facility will serve.
