While LEED states that products such as stone, ceramic, metal, concrete, etc. are inherently non-emitting sources and therefore can be considered fully compliant without any VOC emissions testing, it also states “if they do not include integral organic-based surface coatings, binders or sealants”. The product data sheet for this particular self-levelling product state that it is a “polymer modified cementitious Screed product” so would this mean it now requires a VOC statement and general emissions evaluation or is it still considered inherently non-emitting? The manufacture of this product has also said they cannot provide either VOC or GEE at this time.

Hi Suzanne, even though the product is described as cementitious when I hear "polymer" I think chemical additives so my interpretation is that this product would not be considered inherently non-emitting. It's a gray area because even concrete would likely have chemical admixtures, but that's my gut feeling.
