The Fiberglass Duct Wrap Insulation we are using has achieved Greenguard Gold certification by UL Environment. Does this material need to be recorded on the LEED v4 Low Emitting Materials Calculator? If so what regulation should I input for the 'VOC Content' Section? I cant find Duct Insulation listed under the Product Type drop down box. Please advise.

Hi Trevor,
While duct wrap insulation does function as thermal (and acoustic) insulation, it's really part of the mechanical system, not part of the structure--so there is no need to document it for this credit.

Thanks Nadav! One more follow up question... If the duct wrap insulation has an EPD can it be counted towards MR credit 3? If it is counted, do I need to include all MEP components costs in the 'Actual Materials Cost'? In other words, if I list and EPD's that are part of the MEP Systems, do I have to include all MEP components costs in the 'Actual Materials Cost'?

Hi Trevor,
As I understand, if you use duct insulation for MRc3 Option 1 (product based), you don’t have to include it in other MR credits. It would be required, if you used it for Option 2.
Page 219 of the Ref Guide:
If optional products or materials are included in cost-based credit calculations, such as Option 2 under each Building Product Disclosure and Optimization credits, they must be included consistently across all cost-based credit calculations. Additionally, if optional products and materials are included in product based calculations, such as Option 1 under each Building Product Disclosure and Optimization credits, they are not required to be included in cost-based credit calculations.
Hope this helps:) Though, I haven’t work on a v4 before and would appreciate if someone confirmed.
