Hi all,
I'm currently working in a project pursuing LEED certification (Core & Shell).
For exterior lighting power allowance purposes, I'm not sure of the type of space that I should consider for a rooftop that only have equipment's. Can you help me finding the applicable category? I think that special feature areas is the most close.
Another questions I have, is if I need to consider the landscape lighting that is out of my building boundary, because this load is supplied by my building.
Thanks in advance,
Juan Sanabria

I would agree that makes the most sense. It is also a pretty low value so it is conservative.
Any load connected to your building, that is part of the building scope of work must be included within the boundary. If it was existing lighting then it should still be counted and modeled identically.

Although table 9.4.3B in 90.1 looks like special features is lumped in with walkways and plaza area, when input in the MEPC it comes out with the value associated with stairways which has a much higher allowance and therefore not conservative for the model. I would recommend using plaza area for the roof area since that generally applies. Using the higher baseline allowance associated with stairways may be called out by the reviewer as an un-fair/ unsubstantiated allowance.
It is unclear if this is an error in the MEPC or the way the table is presented in 90.1, perhaps newer versions of the MEPC have already or will correct this if it is an error.
