NC-2009 WEc3:Water Use Reduction

Exemplary Performance WEc3

Hi LEEDusers,

I have a technical question regarding WEc3 exemplary performance. Can somebody confirm requirement for exemplary performance in LEED-2009 NC USGBC reference guide or have ever pursued innovation credit for exemplary performance? IS it only limited to overall potable water reduction by 45% or innovation point can be earned by significant water saving in process water, as explained in LEED Canada 2009 reference guide?

LEED form on LEED ONLINE for LEED-2009 Healthcare does not provide overall water saving but separate water saving for flow&flush fixtures and process water. I am wondering even if I would like to report overall saving and earn exemplary performance, how should I proceed?

Our project has 55% process water reduction and 40% for flow and flush fixtures.

Hi Nirwair, I was wondering if your question was resolved?  I am working on a kennel project (NC 2009) that consumes a lot of process water (to wash animal cages, transportation vans, wet tables, etc). We are using reclaimed rainwater for a large part to limit the use of process water. Looks like registration for the pilot credit for Process Water is closed (https://www.usgbc.org/credits/new-construction-core-and-shell-commercial-interiors/v2009/wepc18) Is there a way to document Process Water savings for credit either through exemplary performance/a different innovation credit? Thanks in advance

Hi, The question was resolved after I got response from LEED reviewer saying "individual fixture has to meet this requirement, not overall". This is specifically true for healthcare projects only. If you have registered this pilot credit before closed date, you should be able to access it and submit it through LEED ONLINE. Nirwair

That is really helpful. Thank you so much!
