We are pursuing LEED certification for a 9,000 square foot addition to a 35,000 square foot school. The existing school will not be certified. The only exterior surfaces added will be sidewalks in the area of the addition. Existing parking will remain as is, no expansion. Can we define the LEED Project Boundary such that the existing parking lot is outside the boundary and therefore not part of the SRI calculations?

Larry,
You can define the LEED project boundary to exclude the existing parking lot if you can provided a good explaination on how the LEED boundary was determined. You may need to provide signage to clearly delinate the boundary between the LEED certified spaces and the non certified spaces.
I have a project that is 2 residential tower connected by a podium and the GBCI requires our project to clearly label which bulding is LEED certified and which one is not.
