Hi there,
I am wondering what is meant by "other special use" in the credit language for Option 2 Strategy B which states, "For the entire project, use light sources with a CRI of 80 or higher. Exceptions include lamps or fixtures specifically designed to provide colored lighting for effect, site lighting, or other special use".
Would storage/back-of-house be considered a "special use" since the intent of requiring an 80+ CRI is to approximate natural light and the use of these spaces is service /typically unoccupied space?
Thank you!

Hi,
I don't think the "other special use" refers to back of house or storage. The intent of the exception seems to be for unusual, or special effects lighting such as colored or color-changing lights where achieving a high CRI would be difficult if not impossible for some colors. (I think site lighting is in there because a lot of exterior lighting is still only available with 70 CRI.)
It should be relatively easy to find storage and back of house lights that have a minimum of 80 CRI.
Best.
