Equipment Manufacturer - How To Navigate Certification Process

Good Day.

Can any one assist me with trying to find out if our equipmnet still qualifies for LEED credits and/or to confirm "Greenspec Listed" designation? As a Canadian based manufacturer that sells al over North America, we achieved these in 2009 and I am trying to find where to go to confirm if this still apllies or need to follow steps to have or equipmnet "re-certifide".

Appreciate any guidance on this.

Thank you!

Hi, Douglas! What kind of equipment do you manufacture? Just trying to get a sense of which certifications would be relevant to your products under LEED v4 and v4.1.

Hi Paula. Thank you for your swift reply. We manufacture Hydronic Construction Heaters. I believe in the year 2009 our equipment had qualified for the following v4.1 categories ; EQ3.1, EQ 3.2 & EQ5 (each 1 LEED point/credit) Our website is www.dryair.ca, if you would liek more detailed information on our equipment. I am in need of finding out if our equipment is still qualified as such so we can continue to represent it as so .. or if there is a need to re-certify or have it evaluated to ensure we wre not misrepresenting it seeing that 10+ years has passed.   Thank you Paula .. I truly appreciate all your help. Doug

It's important to remember that LEED does not certify products, only buildings. So what your equipment does is contribute toward a credit; it's not certified as LEED compliant. I don't think there are any relevant third-party certifications for your products that would help them contribute toward these credits, and I'm not positive that you can make the claim that they contribute. If you look at the credit language for each of the relevant credits, you'll see what the requirements are, and I'm not seeing how HVAC equipment would help a project achieve them. The relevant credits under v4 are: https://leeduser.buildinggreen.com/credit/NC-v4/EQc1 https://leeduser.buildinggreen.com/credit/NC-v4/EQc3 If your products do indeed contribute toward credit achievement, then you can still make the claims you were making under v2009, but it's hard for me to see how they do. Thanks, and good luck!
