The ‘Enhanced Refrigerant Management’ credit it mentions a formula to comply with in order to be eligible for the point. In the formula, the ‘Refrigerant Charge’ says it needs to be within 0.5 – 5.0 lbs/ton; and the resultant of the formula needs to be less than 100. I have a customer that is under the impression that we need to be under 2 lbs of refrigerant per ton… is this a requirement for anywhere in the LEED program? As long as our formula makes out to be less than 100, we should be good with an HVAC unit that is over 2 lbs/ton? I looked and this was the only section where I saw the lbs of refrigerant being involved in the point system.

Hi Michelle, you're correct, the credit is earned based on the overall calculation resulting in a refrigerant impact of less than 100.
