Do you mean like getting a rebate or favorable utility rate? Maybe you could explain more.

Hello Marcus, No I mean if the local provider has a program that a percentage of your energy can be verified as Clean Energy can you use this to improve your Minimum Energy perfromance Calculation or offset? thhus achieving higher Energy Cost Savings.

If it is an on-site renewable source then yes you can.

No just a provable clean source through the Energy provider for the region / municipality; for example; 20% of the power serving the building comes from Wind Energy Sources or 35% comes from PV generated energy sources.

You may want to look at pilot credit EAp95 https://www.usgbc.org/credits/eapc95v4. If you can verify a GHG emissions factor for the grid you are using you may be able to use that instead of the ENERGY STAR Factors. The baseline would be subject to the same factors but if you are driving the building towards electricity instead of gas because of the cleaner grid, the alternative performance metrics should still find some advantage. There is a separate forum for the pilot credit that may have more information.

So it sounds like a green power product. If so it can count toward Green Power/Carbon Offsets but will not count toward Minimum/Optimize Energy Performance.
