We have a project space where the built up area is 2 lakh sqft out of which the conditioned space is 1000 sqft. Is energy modeling necessary in this scenario? Is there any data which defines the minimum conditioned space required to take up energy modeling to show compliance for the prerequisite. Or can we carryout a simple excel sheet based energy performance calculations.

The model must comply with ASHRAE 90.1-2010 Appendix G2.2. Make sure the project complies with the Minimum Program Requirements - https://www.usgbc.org/credits/new-construction/v4/minimum-program-requirements
