Hi All,

We have a project in Dubai targeting LEED Gold certification under LEED V4.1 BD+C New construction. As a green building consultant, we have planned to consider ASHRAE 90.1.2013 to create the baseline energy model as mentioned in the LEED Interpretation 10488: ASHRAE 90.1-2013 in LEED v4.1 BD+C, (https://www.usgbc.org/leedaddenda/10488)

Kindly request your feedback on the following queries:

  1. Is it acceptable to consider ASHRAE 90.1.2013 to determine the energy cost and greenhouse gas emission savings for LEED v4.1 project as mentioned in LEED Interpretation 10488?
  2. If acceptable, can we calculate the cost savings directly like: % of improvement = (Baseline building performance – proposed building performance) / Baseline building performance) as followed in LEED v4?
  3. If on site renewable energy produced, then we can subtract in both cost and green house gas emission, to achieve points in both cost and green house gas emission table. Please confirm.
  4. Can we consider, Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) purchased for the project to get points from Greenhouse Gas Emissions (Table 2)
