I am documenting a Winery that is being built on a Greenfield. We have set the limits of construction of the project in accordance with the LEED requirements. What I am inquiring is if the limits of construction need to be within the LEED Boundary or if the limits of construction are able to go outside the LEED boundary. Since the certification is only within the LEED boundary should the limits of construction also fall within this area?

Dear Jennifer, While the text of SSc5.1 does not clearly define whether these limits should be established within LEED or else, there is a SSp1 where the team is required to develop Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plan in accordance with 2003 EPA Construction General Permit (or local codes). Fortunately, Construction General Permit does not allow any construction activity beyond LEED boundary, hence it can be concluded that the right answer is that the limits of SSc5.1 are contained within LEED boundary.
