We currently have a project LEED-CI. It's an office in which there are 4 shower rooms for 730 FTE. There are 4 floors so we have one shower room per one floor. The thing is that our changing rooms are placed quite far from each shower room, at the 4th floor of the office as a part of office fitness center. So my question is whether the distance between showers and changing rooms is important? It seems logical to me that changing rooms must be near by the showers but still I'm not quite sure.
Can these changing rooms at the fitness center count as changing facilities for this credit or do we need to place changing rooms next to showers? Or maybe we can just place lockers into each shower room so there is no need for separate changing rooms at all.
Sorry if this question was answered before, unfortunately I didn't manage to find relevant infortmation.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Anastasia,
There is no specific requirement for the distance between the shower room and changing room, however the LEED Reference Guide does mention that "Shower and changing areas for cyclists should be easily accessible from the bicycle storage areas."
Changing rooms and showers can share the same space; your strategy to add lockers to the showers sounds logical.
Note that if you are going to utilize the changing rooms in the fitness center, they must be accessible to all building employees.
Hope that helps!
