Hi everyone,
We are working on a LEED BD+C Core and Shell project in Hong Kong and are planning to purchase International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs) from ECOHZ to meet the Green Power and Carbon Offsets credit requirements.
Our specific questions are:
- If we purchase I-RECs sourced from China, will they qualify for this credit under LEED guidelines?
- What specific documentation or supporting materials are needed to demonstrate that the I-RECs comply with Green-e equivalency?
We would appreciate insights from anyone who has experience with similar purchases or has successfully documented compliance for I-RECs.

Projects not using Green-e certified products must demonstrate the alternative’s equivalency to the quality standards established for Green-e Energy and Green-e. (See International Tips, Europe and International Tips, South America.)
