NC-v4 EAp2:Minimum energy performance

Demand Controlled Ventilation

Greetings,

There is a question regarding the requirements related to DCV – 6.4.3.8 and specifically Exception 4. – “Spaces where >75% of the space design OA is required for makeup air…”.

The question is: If we have a 100% OA situation, or DOA (Dedicated Outdoor Air) unit, do such cases belong to this exception and therefore providing DCV conditions are not required.

Your comments are highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Depends if the air is make-up air or not. If it's a typical DOAS providing ventilation air to zone that have local temperature control, then most likely not. The exception mostly applies to spaces like commercial kitchens and labs etc.

I am not a native English speaker, but make-up air should be air that is supplied into the room in order to reduce the air depression (and uncontrolled air infiltration) due to a hood (tipically in kitchens or labs, as Waleed said).
