Pertaining to this extra point in LEED v4 -"Projects served by two or more transit routes such that no one route provides more than 60% of the documented levels may earn one additional point, up to the maximum number of points", I was wondering if "transit routes" just means different lines on one form of transit?
For example on AC Transit, would bus line 70 and bus line 72 count as different transit routes?
thank you!

Hey Evie,
Check out this response from a similar question a couple of years ago: https://leeduser.buildinggreen.com/forum/bus-stops
Based on that logic, you can count the trips from each of you different lines, so your bus lines can count as different routes for the extra point!

HI Calie, I have a follow up question since the post you linked doesn't fully clarify. If I have 3 bus lines that do not make up the next threshold of 144 trips weekday trips/70 weekend, but I do have 3 different routes that do not account for more than 60%, can I earn another point even without 144 qualifying trips? It's a little confusing. Thanks

Hi Leilanie - I am a bit confused by your project scenario. However, I think you are asking if you can get the additional point even if you haven't reached the 144 threshold? If that's the case - the answer is yes ( based on my interpretation? I've never actually gone for this point, full disclosure). This definition is separate from the exemplary points definition, so it seems like you could achieve it even if you didn't get to that next threshold of trips. So you'd receive 2 points.

I have a follow up question to this: “Projects served by two or more transit routes such that no one route provides more than 60% of the documented levels may earn one additional point, up to the maximum number of points”. Does this apply in v4.1 as well? I have 138 weekday trips and 85 weekend trips spread over 4 different bus routes and 4 different train routes. So in v 4 I’d reach only one point according to the table, but one additional according to the above, a total of 2 points. In v4.1 I’d reach 2 points in the table, and perhaps an additional one too? That is my question, is this text also relevant for 4.1? It’s not in there explicitly, but it says: “Step-by-Step Guidance – Follow steps in the LEED v4 reference guide, with the following modifications:”… Anyone know?

I am searching for the same answer Maria!
But you'd actually hit 3 points in both v4 and v4.1 since there is a 100 weekday and 70 weekend threshold for v4.1. Unfortunately even when you upgrade the LT: Access to quality transit credit from v4 to v4.1 the thresholds tab still stay as v4 so I have no idea. I guess we'll have to do a formal question to see if the 2+ routes all under 60% will still get you that additional point in v4.1. I sure hope so!

Hi Robert!
Yes we'll have to send a question or wait till someone can confirm that they have done this before.
I am curious to understand how you can see three points for me in v4? I can't. The table has 1, 3 and 5 points and then the additional one for many routes? Cause in that case that is easier to show.

I'm so sorry, you're absolutely right. I was looking at my ID+C project late last night, for new construction and core and shell it is 2. But after reading some more I don't think they will let us use the 2+ routes in v4.1 since it does not specifically say it as it does in v4 guidance. Only additional new aspect in v4.1 is that you can use privately run shuttles (if access to public is given)... I guess v4.1 is not making it as easy as I initially thought.

Robert and others,
I got the review result today, I did NOT earn credit in v4.1 for the extra transit routes. It is only applicable for Schools and Healthcare (which is in the manual), but not for New Construction (which is neither confirmed nor denied in the manual). So now we know!
