I'm wondering if enrolling in a critical peak pricing tariff would qualify for this credit. The v4 reference manual defines demand response as
"a change in electricity use by demand-side resources from their normal consumption patterns in response to changes in the price of electricity or to incentive payments designed to induce lower electricity use at times of high wholesale market prices or when system reliability is jeopardized,"
which very clearly includes critical peak pricing programs. However, the credit is written in a way that makes it clear that they expect the project to have a contract with a provider for a fixed curtailment amount, which typically is not part of a Critical Peak Pricing program. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I don't have any direct experience but that never stopped me before. :-) From what little I know about critical peak pricing programs they have a minimum curtailment amount in kW. If the minimum exceeds the LEED requirement then you are fine. If not you have to show how you would meet the LEED requirement.

I have a similar question and wondering if anyone has come across this. My project is looking to use a solar + battery system to pursue near NZE and create islanding capability in case the grid goes down. We would be using a commercial rate structure with typical demand and usage charges. We would use the batteries to increase our load factor to reduce the daily peaks whenever possible. Would that quality as demand response?

LI 10468 provides points for off grid projects within the Demand Response credit.
We have a project in Haiti that is entirely off the grid, includes PV, solar thermal, and a battery system.
This project is achieving 2 points within the Demand Response credit via LI #10468.
good luck!

Super helpful. Thanks for sharing. Seems like there is room for a modified version of that LI to cover general load management through storage, without the NZE requirement.
