Cooling only system in Baseline case

Hi,

I am working on a school project and we are submitting for LEED. It comes under system-5. I have used the system-10 for unit heaters wherever applicable. My question is, when we have a coolingonly system in proposed case, what system we have to model it in baseline? Can we move those spaces under coolingonly system to system per floor (system-5 in my case)? Or can we retain the cooling system as it is in baseline with autosized capacities? Appreciate anyone's help.

Thanks,

John

Do any of the exceptions to G3.1.1 apply to this system?

Hi Marcus, Thanks for the reply. The exceptions to G3.1.1 doesnot apply to my project except, for gymnasium I have used System-3 and for vestibule and restroom, System-10 as per exception "b" and "e".

You model the proposed as designed and the baseline according to G3.1.1. Unless the cooling system is considered a process load (i.e. it cools equipment and not people) you should just follow Appendix G. If it is process, say for an IT room perhaps, then it should be modeled identically in both models.

I am modelling a gym where there is no cooling, the proposed is passively cooled through natural ventilation. I had previously understood (goodness knows what version of LEED this dates back to) that I was to model my proposed with mixed mode cooling to ensure it hit a consistent setpoint but made use of the nat vent, then baseline with cooling according to AppG requirements to hit the same setpoints, obviously no nat vent in the baseline. Those setpoints can be broader than typical as long as they match between models. Right path? Thanks Marcus
