Hi,
In order to satisfy Option 2 - Financial support - requirements for our project (location : near Paris, France), we selected a conservation organization regionally and nationally recognized since 40 years, since it implements ecological restoration on behalf of Regional Council.
We've identify with them examples of ecological conservation projects that they could implement as : restoration and revitalisation of forest pounds, reopening of calcareous lawns to preserve very native species, etc.
The financial support of our project would participate actively to implement those ecological conservation projects.
Through this post, i seek here the understanding of the LEEDusers and USGC team about the credit requirements to make sure that the examples of ecological conservation projects quoted above meets the requirements of the Option 2 of the credit.
Thanks a lot for your responses,

Hi Kevin,
We won't be able to provide an official ruling on whether your approach would be accepted by the reviewers, but we can certainly provide opinions on the validity of your approach.
That said, you seem to be approaching this credit correctly for a project located outside of the US. For summary, this is what your project would need to meet to comply:
- FInancial support of at least $4 (USD) per square meter for your total site area (be sure to convert this cost to your local currency and show this calculation in your documentation)
- Support must be for a nationally or locally recognized land trust or conservation organization within 160 kilometers of your project (your selected organization seems to meet this, as long as the project you end up supporting is within the required distance from your project)
Your description of the potential projects seem to match the intent of this credit. I recommend referring to the 'Further Explanation" section of this credit in the Reference Guide for some insight as to information (best practices, etc) that the reviewers will be looking for. You can use the information and examples in this credit to write your own specific narrative explaining the project you select.
You seem to be on the right track so far. If you would prefer an official response before you commit to a project, you can submit a Credit Interpretation Ruling (CIR) through your LEEDOnline website.
Good luck!

Hi Kévin,
can you please share the name of the organisation you have found? Was it accepted by USGBC?

Hi Lina,
It's "Agence des Espaces Verts d'Ile de France". It is theorically compliant to LEED requirements, with National recognition to protect/restore natural areas. They can lead you to compliant projects they conduct, which can be covered by MOA's subventions to comply to the LEED credit.
USGBC accepted it through a query I made about 2 years ago. But we are going to submit our Construction file, so that I will know for sure after the audit how compliant it is.
Hope it helps you.
Kind regards
