Hi.
Have anyone found a commercial washing maschine in Europe, which meets the CEE TIER 3A requirements, and which can be documented? Miele can delivere a commerical washing maschine, where they can delivere information which shows that they meet the requirements, unfortunately they are not able to share the data with us on anything else than a mail, which I would be afraid is not sufficient enough for LEED.
Kind regards, Lise

Hi Lise,
We have been having issues with this standard in the US. I believe you would have a good shot with providing the information even in an email. But please note that GBCI has just told us the following:
"the intended requirements for commercial washers presents serious obstacles, so we are not enforcing and the topic is on our list of things to revisit in the next version of LEED. The CEE tier is limited in its applicability. Therefore, clothes washers that fall outside the scope of the CEE standard (1.6 to 6 cu ft) are exempt from the prerequisite requirement."
You might try emailing a LEED Coach or GBCI directly to ask.

Hi Michelle
Thanks for the quick reply. I will send GBCI a mail right away to get them to confirm.

Hi, I noticed this dialogue while working on a case. I'd like to clarify the guidance we provided to Michelle.
There are machines that are within the scope of CEE and others that are larger. It is correct that larger ones need not be documented in the prerequisite, however, those withing the CEE capacity range do need to be included. Please use this guidance:
Although the CEE Commercial clothes washer specification has been suspended, LEED v4 projects must demonstrate compliance with the CEE Tier 3A commercial clothes washer criteria that was in effect at the time the LEED v4 rating system was published (MEF of 1.80, WF of 7.5). The Tier 3A criteria do not appear to be listed on CEE's website any longer, but a copy is posted here: https://www.sdge.com/sites/default/files/comwash_specs_0.pdf. Note that commercial clothes washers that comply with the current Energy STAR specification (v8) meet the CEE Tier 3A criteria.
Clothes washers that fall outside the scope of the CEE standard (1.6 to 6 cu ft) are exempt from the prerequisite requirement.
