I’m seeking clarification on a matter related to daily trip reporting for our local transit system. We have multiple buses running simultaneously on certain routes. For instance, the local Route #12 has 6-7 buses operating concurrently.
We recently received feedback stating that we reported weekly trips, but we actually provided the daily number of trips. I understand it looked like an absurd amount of stops, but our numbers came from the source. The confusion appears to be related to the fact that several buses run the same route at the same time, and the route schedule combines the number of stops for these concurrent buses.
Could someone help clarify how we should accurately report the number of trips for LEED v4.1 LTc5? Should we report the total number of buses running simultaneously, or should we focus on the daily trips provided?

Count the number of times a bus arrives at the stop nearest your project each day.

I'm a little bit rusty for this credit, but AFAIR based on this point
I reported so:
- I took stop by stop within the qualified distance and counted unique bus routes per each stop: if bus route was counted at one stop, it would not be counted at any other stop – such you avoid both situations: counting the same bus route at the same direction at other stops within the distance; counting the same bus route at "way back" direction.
- for each bus route I calculated daily trips per weekday (it wasn't different at any given weekday - normaly data from public bus company says "period from trip to trip at working day is at least 15 minutes with minimum of 5 minutes at rush hour that is 7-9 AM and 5-7 PM, working hours: 6 AM - 11 PM") and per weekends trips (saturday and sunday separately, in order to determine further which day to count as "weekend day with the higher number of trips").
- I created a table, that was counting "cumulative total" for weekdays trips and weekend trips as I add data for any new row (one row - one bus route)
- As weekday cumulative and one of cumulatives for saturday and sunday reached required treshold (at this project it was maximum point) I stoped counting bus stops. Since it was center of the big city with adjacent big bus terminal - it was far away (VERY far away) from counting all bus routs and bus trips that are eligible for the credit. I counted and provided proofs for number of trips that are just enough.
I advise you to calculate routes and develope approval documentation so, since I can miss some detailes from your explanation and advise smth wrong.
AFAIU in your case you just need to calculate routes all the stops as far stops has any routes (acounting the rule at the first point of my explanation) - as I understood that you don't have trips for maximum points. If the situation is so, that reviewer didn't belive that this is daily trips since it's too big number – especially advise you to show not all trips, but enough trips to achieve required points.
And of course get data from the source that explicitly states that it's daily trips.
