CI-v4.1 MRc5:Material Ingredients

CI-v4.1 BPDO - Environmental Product Declarations and Material Ingredients

Hi,

I'm looking for some assistance in relation to the materials credits, namely:

1. Environmental Product Declarations

2. Material Ingredients

Quoted from the reference guide: "Structure and enclosure materials may not constitute more than 30% of the value of compliant building products." How does LEED define enclosure and structure materials?

I am looking for guidance on the following products as to whether they should be deemed structure/enclosure or not:

1. Ceiling Panels

2. Raised Access Flooring

3. Floor Covering

4. Glass Mineral Wool

5. Plasterboard (Internal)

6. Fire Resistant Glass

7. Gyframe Metal Framing Components for Gypsum

8. Gyproc Finish Plaster

BuildingGreen has definitions:
enclosure The exterior plus semi-exterior portions of the building. Exterior consists of the elements of a building that separate conditioned spaces from the outside (i.e., the wall assembly). Semiexterior consists of the elements of a building that separate conditioned space from unconditioned space or that encloses semi-heated space through which thermal energy may be transferred to or from the exterior or conditioned or unconditioned spaces (e.g., attic, crawl space, basement).
I would not consider ceiling panels in this definition.
structure Elements carrying either vertical or horizontal loads (e.g., walls, roofs, and floors) that are considered structurally sound and nonhazardous.
I would assume raised access flooring could be considered structural since it would have to carry the load of furniture and people, whereas I would not consider floor covering as structure.

I'd recommend substituting the v4.1 credit path. LEED v4.1 removed the limitation listed in your post.
