As most will have noted, the language for the v4.1 BD+C draft came out just before holidays.

There are quite a few changes. The credit value is no longer fixed three points, but ranges from 1 to 4 points. One point just for doing LCA (dipping your toes into water), and four points for saving 20 % carbon and reusing or salvaging materials (while reducing at least two other categories by 10 %).

Overall, this is a clear improvement in the credit and it is now more in line with the stated intent. Still, a missed opportunity as well to not have focused more on carbon reduction and allowing possibly higher figures in other impact categories, which would allow changing baseline building structural material too (as all impact categories are not going same way for major material changes).

Anyhows, I wrote up a summary on the changes for those who might be interested: https://www.oneclicklca.com/leed-v4-1-lca/.
