NC-v4 EQp2:Environmental tobacco smoke control

Casino which allows smoking

Good day everyone,

We have a project in the design stage, it is a resort with a casino.

The client is considering LEED certification.

The main issue we are facing is to meet EQp2 ETS prereq.

Since the casino allows smoking, can we meet the prereq by providing HEPA filters in return air and increasing fresh air intake over the minimum required by 50%.

This is to reduce the accumulation of tobbaco smoke in the casino.

Regards,

Azfar

Dear Azfar,   EQP Environmental Tobacco Smoke Control is completely prohibit smoking inside the building. The only exception is for residential building but there are compartmentalized requirements that need to be fulfilled to prevent excessive leakage between units. However, you can try to check what's the "Code Limitation & Restriction" in your project area. Because the smoking ban may differ between countries and then try to provide documentation of the code to support the LEED submission.   Thanks and regards.

I am running into the same issue, and this code caveat poses an interesting opporunity for our project. It is on Native Americal land ("indian reservation"), and does not have a code to follow for smoking. Please advise if this could be an exception.
